Industrial controls and automation specialists

We design, install and support control systems for operations across Queensland.

What we do

Holt Systems provides industrial controls and automation services: design, control panel build, installation, PLC and HMI programming, and commissioning. Our work centres on three areas: crusher feed control, fill-weight control and the migration of obsolete PLC systems.

We take on site-level projects, from a single machine to a complete production line or plant area, and quote every project at a fixed price.

  • PLC and HMI programming
  • Variable speed drives
  • Level and weight instrumentation
  • Control panel design and build
  • Commissioning and documentation

01

Excess fill weight

Filling lines are typically set above declared weight to avoid underweight packs. Across high production volumes, that margin represents a significant and recurring material cost.

02

Inconsistent crusher feed

Variable feed rates prevent a cone crusher from operating choke-fed, reducing throughput and producing inconsistent product gradation.

03

Obsolete control platforms

Legacy PLCs such as the Siemens S7-300 and Allen-Bradley SLC 500 carry growing spares and support risk. A single hardware failure can mean an extended unplanned outage.

How a project runs

A consistent five-stage delivery process, providing clarity on cost and program from the outset.

  1. 1

    Site assessment

Review of the process, control system, instrumentation and existing documentation, with input from operations and maintenance personnel.

  2. 2

    Proposal

A defined scope of work, fixed price, program and projected benefit.

  3. 3

    Off-site build and test

Control panels are built and software is tested prior to installation, reducing commissioning risk.

  4. 4

    Installation and commissioning

Completed within a scheduled shutdown, with the existing system retained as a fallback until the new system is proven.

  5. 5

    Handover and support

Complete documentation, program backups and ongoing local technical support.

Why Holt Systems

Specialist control systems capability, without the overheads of a large integrator.

Manufacturer independent
We work across manufacturers and equipment generations, including Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric and Omron, and specify hardware on technical merit and local support availability.
Scoped to the requirement
Projects are scoped to the specific machine, line or plant area, without the overheads of a large integrator. All work is quoted at a fixed price.
Reduced shutdown duration
Off-site build and testing means shutdown time is spent on installation and commissioning rather than fault-finding.
Single point of accountability
One accountable lead from initial assessment through design, installation and handover.

About Holt Systems

Holt Systems is a Brisbane-based industrial controls and automation business. We specialise in the control systems that most directly affect plant output: crusher feed, fill-weight control and the replacement of obsolete PLCs. Holt Systems is a licensed electrical contractor in Queensland (licence 1513082).

Concentrating on these areas allows us to scope work accurately and quote every project at a fixed price.

Frequently asked questions

For enquiries not covered here, please use the form below.

How is pricing determined?

Each project is scoped following the site assessment and quoted at a fixed price before work begins. The price does not change unless the scope is varied at your request. Proposals set out the projected benefit alongside the cost to support a clear investment decision.

How much downtime is required for installation?

Downtime is minimised by building and testing off-site, then installing during a scheduled shutdown such as a weekend or planned maintenance period. For PLC migrations, the existing system is retained as a fallback until the new system is proven. The shutdown plan is agreed with you in advance.

Is it compatible with our existing equipment?

In most cases, yes. Our work typically adds instrumentation, drives and control systems to existing plant rather than replacing it. Compatibility is confirmed during the site assessment, before any commitment is made.

Which control platforms do you support?

We are manufacturer independent and work with common platforms including Siemens, Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation), Schneider Electric and Omron. Where new hardware is required, it is specified on technical suitability and local support availability.

What is your service area?

We are based in Brisbane and service sites throughout Queensland, from South East Queensland to regional and remote operations. Projects outside Queensland are considered on a case-by-case basis.

What does the site assessment involve?

The assessment covers a review of the process, control panels, instrumentation and drives, existing PLC programs and electrical drawings, together with discussions with operations and maintenance personnel. The outcome is a written scope of work and fixed-price proposal.
